Colour Inspiration – Red

From a tomato to a piece of art. When I was young I loved the colour red, every shade of red in my dresses, ribbons and in my room. I was a little fire cracker.

I had all intentions of painting this painting (paper for my next book) a deep rich red colour, yet as I painted I had a strong emotional shift within me. As an adult, I associate red with anger, lust intense passion. These emotions came quite apparent as I painted. So using a tomato as my inspiration, I was able to soften the red with yellow and orange to create my version of red – grounding, vibrant, summer time and joy.

Colours play important part in our lives and hold such meaning to how we are feeling on a physical, metal and emotional level. What are your favourite colours and why?
