Build your own forest

Build your own forest

For as long as I can remember, I have always found great peace and solace in nature. As a little girl I looked for fairies under moss covered rocks, to now walking bare foot under great oak trees.
At university, I challenged a class mate (and possibly Sr Veronica) in theology, whether our connection to the light is bound by the buildings we worship in? Is it this restriction which keeps us bound and not free? These questions resurfaced over the weekend, where again I started questioning my faith and my connection to the light. Are we missing something? Or is something greater about to happen? Are we ready or are we blocking this from happening by not evolving?
I personally feel more connected spiritually when out in the forests, walking through fields, swimming in oceans, playing with fire or laying on the grass, than I do in a building. .
Have we forgotten the most import connection of all?
Over the weekend, I spoke to a young man who was saying he needed to escape Berlin because it was so manic and he needed to retreat to the forest again. These words, sounded familiar and hit a chord with me. It made me start to think of our own personal forests. The forest deep within us. As I sat, I connected with this beautifully rich, abundant forest full of life, creatures and sounds. I didn’t need to step out side. I was in my own forest and no matter where I go, I will always have this deep dark abundant forest growing inside of me. As long as I nurture it with love, light and support it will continue to grow. It is this connection which keeps me grounded.
So as James Lovelck said ‘Sadly, it’s much easier to create a desert than a forest.’ So my question to you is, how are you going to build your forest?
